Matthew Perry, famous for having portrayed Chandler Bing in the famous American sitcom ‘Friends’ died due to “acute effects of ketamine”, revealed his autopsy report released on December 15. The actor had died earlier on October 28, 2023. The actor was 54 then. The California police authorities said that the actor’s death investigation case was officially closed on January 10. Amidst these developments, a recent report by Us Weekly reveals some dark truths about Perry’s past.
Matthew Perry allegedly lied about his sobriety during the promotion of his memoir ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’ and “He was verbally, emotionally and physically abusive”, claims a source close to the actor according to a report by Us Weekly. It also claims that the actor was abusive and got a woman in her 20s addicted to drugs (oxycodone and painkillers) and that the woman wanted to sue Perry in 2020. However, the matter later got settled between the two.

Perry has also been accused of assaulting his friend and sober companion Morgan Wallen and ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz. The report suggests that no one too close to Perry was surprised by the news of his substance abuse. The report says he lived quite “isolated” in his later years and did not meet many people. Matthew Perry parted ways with Molly Hurwitz in June 2021. Hurtwitz expressed her grief on Perry’s death in an Instagram post. The post read, “He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was. And he really was very talented. As the Friends reunion was approaching, we rewatched the show together. “Fuck, I was so good!!!… See what I did there???” We rewound and studied scenes. Our respect and appreciation of humour are something that connects us. Being with him as he rediscovered his brilliance was magical.
But, I obviously knew that man in a very different way, too. While I loved him deeper than I could comprehend, he was complicated, and he caused pain like I’d never known. No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I have tremendous gratitude for that, for everything I learned from our relationship.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Al-Anon, an invaluable resource for those who love someone struggling with this destructive disease.
Matty, I feel relief that you are at peace.
Sincerely,
Moll-o-Rama(…fication).”
Fans have come out in support of Perry amid these allegations. A user on X wrote, "I don’t care if MatthewPerry was lying about his sobriety to sell books. I don’t care if his addiction caused him to become abusive and manipulative. At the end of the day, a family is missing their son and big brother. Let us remember him at his best, not at his worst."
