Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently basking in the tremendous success of his 2023 releases--'Pathaan,' 'Jawan,' and 'Dunki.' During a recent event, the superstar honoured with an award, opened up about the challenging times his family faced, specifically addressing the arrest of his son Aryan Khan in 2021. The actor reflected on the tumultuous period his family endured over the past few years and shared the lessons he learned.

Speaking to News18, Shah Rukh Khan reflected on the tumultuous last 4-5 years for him and his family. He acknowledged that most of his films faced setbacks, and trade analysts had been quick to predict his downfall, a comparison he made by calling them 'idiots.' "In the last 4-5 years, it's been a bit of a ride for me and my family. I'm sure for some of you as well because of Covid. Most of my films flopped, and analysts started writing my death knells," he remarked. SRK then delved into the personal challenges he faced, referencing the high-profile drug case involving his eldest son, Aryan Khan, in October 2021. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had conducted a raid on a luxury cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai, leading to Aryan's involvement in the case, which garnered significant media attention.

During this time, Shah Rukh Khan and his family opted for a relatively private life, refraining from commenting on the case involving his son. Eventually, Aryan Khan was released from jail after nearly a month, and he was cleared of all charges. Reflecting on these personal challenges, Shah Rukh shared, "On a personal level, a bit of bothersome and unpleasant things also happened to say the least, which made me learn a lesson. That be quiet, be very quiet and work hard with dignity. When you think everything is good, suddenly out of nowhere, life will come and hit you. But this is the time when you need to be the hopeful, honest storyteller."

The superstar concluded his speech by quoting a popular line from his film 'Om Shanti Om', "Picturo ki tarah real life me bhi happy ending hota hai, aur agar aisa na ho… Toh picture abhi baaki hai mere dost…" (Just like in films, real life also has a happy ending, and if it's not that way... then the picture is not over yet, my friend...)

SRK urged Ratnam, "It's all come out in the open now. I'm requesting you, I'm begging you and I'm telling you everytime to do a film with me. I swear, this time, I'll dance on top of the plane for 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' if you tell me."

In response to Shah Rukh Khan's request to work together again, Mani Ratnam had a cheeky reply when asked about casting SRK in a film. He humorously stated, "when he buys a plane... I'll do it."

To this, the actor replied, "Mani, let me just tell you, the way my films are doing...this plane is not far way." The director added, "I'll bring it down to earth, don't worry." SRK then sang the famous 'Jiya Jale' song as he said, "I'm coming," .. Adding, "Thank you, Mani sir, for the film! March, I'll be there sir. Morning shift, 2 am."
