The Odyssey First Trailer: Matt Damon Battles Monsters To Return Home With His Army In Christopher Nolan’s Epic

The Odyssey Trailer: Christopher Nolan is set to return with another cinematic spectacle with his upcoming epic, The Odyssey. It is one of the highly anticipated cinematic adaptations of Homer’s timeless Greek epic. Universal has finally released the first teaser trailer for The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon as Greek hero Odysseus, who embarks on journey back home with his Army after the Trojan war. Damon stars alongside Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland, and others. The Odyssey is set to arrive in theatres in July next year.

The Odyssey trailer is just one minute and 53 seconds long, offering a glimpse into Greek hero Odysseus' long journey home after the Trojan War. The trailer opens with a scene featuring Odysseus and his army shipwrecked, navigating their way back home during a treacherous journey. The visuals feature Odysseus walking across landscapes, sailing the sea and trekking through caves, where dark, ominously large beasts appear in the shadows. 

The trailer also introduces Tom Holland as Odysseus' son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Odysseus’ wife, Penelope.

The Odyssey trailer revisits the Trojan War, including a shot of Damon and his soldiers inside the infamous Trojan horse, previously teased in a six-minute clip screened before Imax 70mm showings of Sinners and One Battle After Another, as per a Variety report.

Soon after the trailer's release, fans flooded social media with their reactions.

Earlier, Universal revealed that the film would be “shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology.” At CinemaCon, Universal executive Jim Orr shared what fans can expect from Christopher Nolan's film. He said, “a visionary, once-in-a-generation cinematic masterpiece that Homer himself would quite likely be proud of.”
