The first batch of documents released from the US Justice Department’s long-awaited Jeffrey Epstein files has cast fresh light on the extensive network surrounding the disgraced financier, revealing thousands of photographs featuring high-profile political figures, celebrities and well-known associates. The December 19 disclosure, which spans more than 300,000 pages of investigative material, includes images of former US President Bill Clinton, pop icon Michael Jackson and numerous others linked to Epstein over the years.
16 DOJ Documents Vanish After Release
However, the release quickly sparked controversy after at least 16 files disappeared from the Justice Department’s public webpage less than a day after they were posted, without any public explanation. Among the missing items was a photograph reportedly showing President Donald Trump alongside Epstein, Melania Trump and Epstein’s longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Other removed files included images of nude paintings and collections of photographs stored in drawers and on furniture.
Officials have said the disclosure remains incomplete. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that attorneys are still reviewing the materials to ensure victims are not identified, a process that could take several weeks. Authorities have emphasised that appearing in the files does not imply wrongdoing, noting that many images lack context, are undated, or have faces redacted.
