Rachna Kaushal, a senior professor in the Department of Political Science at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has alleged that she has been facing mental, professional, and institutional harassment for the past 27 years solely because she is a Hindu. She has accused a Dean and a Professor of making serious communal comments and misusing their positions and authority.

Complaint Submitted With Evidence

Professor Rachna Kaushal has submitted a formal complaint letter to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon, attaching audio recordings, written transcripts, and other documents as evidence. Prof. Kaushal stated that she was appointed as a lecturer in 1998. She alleges that discrimination and mental harassment against her began shortly after she joined the department.

Allegation Of Miscarriage Due To Pressure

The most distressing allegation dates back to 2004. Professor Kaushal recounts that she was pregnant and expecting twins at the time. Despite her condition, she was allegedly subjected to constant mental pressure and forced to work. She stated that she worked through the pain, but unfortunately, she suffered a miscarriage.

Communal Slurs

It is alleged that she was told directly, "You are a Hindu, go to BHU (Banaras Hindu University). There, let alone the admission of Muslim children, even their application forms are thrown away."

She has made it clear that if the university administration desires, she is ready to appear in person with all the evidence, including the audio recordings, transcripts, and documents. She has further stated that if no action is taken, she will file an FIR and move court.
