Chhath Puja 2025: Gorakhpur Announces 2-Day Traffic Diversion Plan For Oct 27 And 28

In Gorakhpur, traffic arrangements have been altered for two days for the occasion of Chhath Puja. The entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be restricted, and several routes will be closed to traffic. These changes have been implemented to ensure the safety of devotees and to manage crowds, with exemptions made for ambulances and emergency services.

Chhath Puja 2025: Gorakhpur Announces 2-Day Traffic Diversion Plan For Oct 27 And 28
Heavy vehicles will not be permitted to enter the city on October 27 and 28.

The city's traffic system will undergo significant changes for two days to ensure the safety of devotees, smooth traffic movement, and effective crowd control during the Chhath festival. Traffic diversions will be implemented during the following periods:

October 27 (Monday): 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm

October 28th (Tuesday): 2:00 am to 10:00 am

SP Traffic Rajkumar Pandey stated that these arrangements are necessary due to the expected heavy crowds around the ghats and on main routes. Traffic personnel, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, head constables, and constables, have been deployed to manage the diversions.

Heavy Vehicle Restrictions And Diversions

During the specified times, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be prohibited.

- General Diversion Route: Heavy vehicles approaching the city will be routed via RamnagarKarjahan, Baghagada, the industrial area turning, and the four-lane road to reach their destinations.

- Vehicles from Deoria, Kushinagar, Lucknow, Varanasi, Barhalganj: Trucks and buses coming from these directions will not be allowed to enter the city via their usual routes.

- Vehicles from Lucknow and Sant Kabir Nagar: These will be diverted at Nausad and must proceed via the Baghagada, Ramnagar Karjahan four-lane road.

- Vehicles from Varanasi, Mau, Barhalganj: These will be diverted from Baghagada towards RamnagarKarjahan.

- Heavy Vehicles from Deoria and Kushinagar: These vehicles must enter the city via the Karjahan route only.

- Heavy Vehicles from Frenda and Pipiganj: These will be routed through Bargadwa, the industrial area turning, and KhajanchiChauraha.

Internal City Route Restrictions

Restrictions will also apply to several routes within the city:

Lal Diggi To Geeta Press And Reti Chauraha: Movement of four-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, and e-rickshaws will be prohibited on this stretch.

Phal Mandi To Rajghat Bridge: No vehicles will be permitted on this route.

Roadways Buses (Towards Lucknow And Varanasi): Buses heading towards Lucknow and Varanasi will operate via the Deoria Bypass Road and Ramnagar Karjahan.

Exemptions

The following vehicles are exempted from these diversions:

  • Ambulances
  • Vehicles carrying pilgrims
  • Other emergency service vehicles
