Three people were injured, including two brothers who are in serious condition, after several rounds were fired during a dugola (competitive folk singing event) in the Karakat police station area. The incident occurred on Friday night in Nok Parasi village during a Govardhan Puja celebration.
The cause of the incident is reported to be a mutual dispute. All the injured are being treated at Karuna Hospital in Bikramganj.
The Victims
The seriously injured individuals are two brothers:
- 25-year-old Sharad Kumar, son of Binod Singh, was shot in the neck.
- 28-year-old Lallu Kumar, son of Binod Singh, was shot in the abdomen.
- The third victim, 32-year-old Satyendra Kumar , son of Raja Ram Singh, was shot in the leg.
Details Of The Incident
As in previous years, a cultural programme was organized in Nok Parasi village for Govardhan Puja, which had already included two plays over two days. On Friday night, the dugola programme featured artists Vyas Arvind Abhiyanta and Ramashankar Singh.
During the event, a dispute broke out over an issue, which quickly escalated into several rounds of firing, striking the three men.

While it is rumored that the dispute began over an attempt to take a motorbike through the seated crowd, police suspect a different motive. Station House Officer (SHO) Vivek Kumar stated that there has been a pre-existing mutual dispute between two groups in the area.
Police Investigation
The police have detained 2-3 people in connection with the matter and are currently questioning them. It is also reported that a firearm was recovered during a raid in the area; however, the police have not yet officially confirmed this recovery.
SHO Vivek Kumar confirmed that detentions have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
