Farmers from 105 villages staged a protest on Friday outside the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) office in Noida to express their disapproval of the land that was taken from them in the 1980s so that a power plant could be built in Dadri.

The farmers have been positioned outside the NTPC office in Noida Sector-24 for the past eighteen days. Farmers shut down the NTPC office on Friday by marching towards it, and the police then barricaded the area.

All of them have been protesting for 18 days. Farmers started circling NTPC with locks and chains. The police stopped the farmers by erecting barricades.

The farmers attempted to move forward by pushing and shoving, but they were unable to withstand the police's strictness. The protesting women climbed the barricades, which were brought down by them.

The farmers are requesting that all individuals whose land has been taken over by the NTPC be granted plots in addition to a 64per cent increase in additional compensation.

In addition, one member of each farmer's family should receive a government job, and the population in rural areas should be resettled.

Sukhveer Khalifa, President of the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, stated that women and the elderly are on strike day and night in the bitter cold. The protest has been ongoing for the past 19 days.
