Commuters on the Delhi-Meerut road in Modinagar faced a severe traffic jam on Thursday due to ongoing road construction by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Govindpuri area. This marks the third consecutive day that the city has witnessed such disruptions.
The gridlock, which lasted for approximately two hours, was exacerbated by the lack of traffic management. Typically, traffic is diverted to a one-way system during daytime construction; however, this protocol was not followed on Thursday. Vehicles attempted to pass alongside the construction site, creating a bottleneck that left little to no space for movement.
The situation deteriorated quickly, resulting in long queues where even two-wheelers could not pass. Commuters reported that short journeys, which usually take minutes, stretched into an hour. Many believe the chaos could have been avoided had police been deployed on-site to manage the arrangements.

Regarding the police absence, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) stated that a team was dispatched immediately upon receiving information about the jam, and traffic flow was restored shortly thereafter.
