UP Teacher Video: Uttar Pradesh Police filed an FIR against a school teacher whose video went viral on social media, in which he is seen singing a song, some parts of which mention the Kanwar Yatra. Police lodged a case against the teacher at MGM Inter College, Bareilly on Monday. Police claimed that his song carries some objectionable content.

In the viral video, the teacher's song asks students "not to bring kanwars", but "go light the lamp of knowledge". "Kanwar leke mat jana, tum gyan ka deep jalana, manavta ke seva karke tum sachche manav ban jaana (Don't carry kanwars, go light the lamp of knowledge, serve humanity and become a true human)," he is heard as singing in the video.

BJP Leader, Hindu Activists File Complaint

According to police, a BJP corporator and local Hindu organisation members filed a complaint against the teacher, demanding strict action in the matter.

Who Is The Teacher?

Rajneesh Gangwar, who landed in legal trouble by singing a song linked to the Kanwar Yatra, is a teacher in Baherhi in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

Police said a case has been filed against him under Section 353 (2) (making statement containing false information, rumour or alarming news) of the BNS. Bareilly's District Inspector of Schools Dr Ajit Kumar Singh said the teacher's intention was not wrong.

The video is old, but, someone has "deliberately" posted the video during the month of Sawan to create a controversy, he added.

"A probe was launched on the complaint and a clarification was also taken from the teacher," the official added.

The Kanway Yatra, an annual pilgrimage, began on July 11 and will conclude on July 23.
