The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has kicked off construction work on a long-proposed 900-metre road in Rajnagar Extension, which will connect Sikroad to the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR). The project, costing Rs 15 crore, was inaugurated on Monday by Muradnagar MLA Ajitpal Tyagi, who performed the traditional coconut-breaking ceremony.

GDA Vice-Chairman Atul Vats said the new road will link with the 45-metre-wide road adjacent to Lokmanya Tilak Inter College, easing traffic flow and benefiting a large number of residents.

In addition, the GDA has started widening the 3-kilometre stretch from the Rajnagar Extension roundabout through City Forest, as well as the 7-kilometre Outer Ring Road, expanding them from 45 metres to 60 metres.

A total station survey has been conducted, and the report is expected shortly. Upon completion, these upgrades are expected to ensure smoother traffic movement and prevent future congestion.

Under the Urban Infrastructure Fund, road strengthening work is being carried out across Rajnagar Extension at an estimated Rs 60 crore. This includes the 18-metre-wide road in front of AK Children Society, the road connecting GD Goenka School to the stadium, and several zonal roads, including the 45-metre-wide road through Ajrana Society, the 30-metre-wide road in Rajnagar Extension, and other key stretches.

“Atul Vats, GDA Vice-Chairman, said the combined efforts of constructing, widening, and strengthening roads will significantly improve connectivity and reduce air pollution caused by damaged roads in the area,” he added.
