The Ghaziabad Development Authority has taken the initiative to develop the Indraprastha industrial area. Under the scheme, industrial plots will be filled with soil, and a five-metre-wide road will be widened to 12 metres. Approximately Rs 4.23 crore will be spent on this. According to the authority, this is expected to lead to an investment of around Rs 200 crore from the establishment of industrial units here over the next five years. 

The GDA had launched the B-pocket of the Indraprastha scheme as an industrial area, where more than 50 plots remained unsold for a long time. In June 2020, during the COVID period, the authority auctioned and allotted 45 industrial plots to entrepreneurs.

At the time, an assurance was given that basic facilities would be provided and possession handed over within three months, but when the entrepreneurs visited the site, they found deep pits and an undeveloped area. Following complaints, the pits were filled with soil, but the entrepreneurs received only a five-metre-wide road instead of a 45-metre-wide one. 

In response, the GDA Vice-Chairman formed a committee to investigate. The committee's report stated that if the road were to be widened, land would have to be acquired from the entrepreneurs' plots. Subsequently, a decision was made to acquire 7 metres of land at the front of the plots to construct a 12-metre-wide road. 

Entrepreneur Arun Gupta stated that during the COVID period in 2020, he had purchased an 820-square-metre plot at a rate of Rs 17,500 per square metre, which was later reduced to 780 square metres.

Now, another seven metres of land has been acquired for road construction, making the plot even smaller. There are several plots in the area, ranging from 450 square metres to 820 square metres, whose area has been reduced.

"A 12-metre-wide road will be constructed, and soil filling will be carried out in the plots of the industrial pocket of the Indraprastha scheme. Tenders for this have been issued," said Alok Ranjan, Chief Engineer, GDA.
