Individuals found with dengue mosquito larvae on their premises can now face fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, following a proposal from the Health Department approved by the Ghaziabad District Magistrate. District Malaria Officer Gyanendra Mishra confirmed that the fine will be calculated based on costs incurred by the Health Department and municipal authorities, including cleaning teams, insecticide spraying, awareness campaigns, and official inspections.
Before the fine is imposed, affected individuals will receive a notice and be given 24 hours to comply. Failure to pay or reluctance to cooperate will lead to FIR registration.
In a related development, daily testing for 300 patients for dengue has been initiated, with testing kits now available. In the last 24 hours, the district reported seven new dengue cases and two malaria cases.
Currently, seven dengue patients are admitted to hospitals, six of whom are in the dengue ward at District MMG Hospital. The total number of dengue patients in the district has now reached 130, while malaria cases have risen to 71.
On Wednesday, notices were issued to 137 people after dengue mosquito larvae were detected at their locations. Health teams continue awareness drives, advising residents to use mosquito nets, clean air conditioners and coolers, take only paracetamol for fever, and consult doctors before using any other medication.
