Ghaziabad: MMG Hospital's Emergency Ward Overwhelmed After Dussehra OPD Shutdown
The hospital's OPD remained closed, and hundreds of patients attended the emergency department.

With Out-Patient Department (OPD) services closed for the Dussehra holiday on Thursday, government hospitals across the district experienced a significant increase in patient traffic in their emergency departments.

The emergency ward at District MMG Hospital alone treated over 400 patients from morning until late in the evening. According to CMS Dr Rakesh Kumar Singh, a majority of these cases were for anti-rabies vaccines following dog, cat, and monkey bites. The vaccine was administered to over 50 people, including 14 children.

Additionally, 21 children were admitted with symptoms of fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea, while five other patients were referred to different facilities. The hospital is currently operating at full capacity, with Dr Singh confirming that there are no vacant beds available in the dengue, burns, or general wards.
