Ghaziabad Police Seize Rs 6 Crore Worth Of Firecrackers; Three Arrested, Warehouses Sealed
Ghaziabad police raided two firecracker warehouses, seizing firecrackers worth approximately Rs 6 crore.

A major accident was narrowly averted after Ghaziabad police raided two firecracker warehouses, seizing firecrackers worth approximately Rs 6 crore. The warehouses, lacking adequate fire safety measures, stored around 3,00,000 kilograms of firecrackers, mostly sourced from Kashipur in Uttarakhand. Authorities warned that a single spark could have caused a massive disaster affecting a wide area.

The raid uncovered that the warehouses, comprising around twenty rooms, were crammed full, suggesting that firecrackers had been accumulating over a long period.

Despite an existing ban on firecracker sales, the stock had been sold to customers in Hapur, Ghaziabad, and other areas. Advance payments had reportedly been collected from some buyers, with the balance to be paid on delivery.

Bhojpur Kotwal Sachin Baliyan confirmed that three accused were arrested and sent to jail on Saturday. Police have registered a case and are investigating the sale network, including a firecracker shop allegedly operated by the accused in Hapur.

Both warehouses have been sealed, and police personnel remain stationed at the sites. ACP Modinagar Amit Saxena stated that further action is underway to trace all buyers and prevent similar illegal sales.
