In a shocking incident, two individuals were sent to jail on Saturday for allegedly performing a tantric ritual by removing half-burnt body parts from a funeral pyre in Ajrada village, Meerut. The incident occurred late Friday night at the village cremation ground.

The deceased, Gajendra, son of Birpal and a resident of Ajrada, had been murdered in Delhi. After the post-mortem, his body was brought back to the village for the last rites. Following the cremation, some villagers noticed three individuals in nearby woods removing charred body parts from the pyre. The accused were also allegedly cooking rice on the pyre’s fire.

The accused have been identified as Baljit, son of Harikishan (the tantrik), and his associates Imran and Shaukeen. Villagers caught Baljit and Imran while Shaukeen managed to flee. The two were beaten by the enraged villagers before being handed over to the police.

Based on a complaint lodged by the villagers, the police registered a case against all three. Station Officer Mundali Ram Gopal Singh confirmed that Baljit and Imran have been sent to jail, while raids are underway to apprehend the absconding Shaukeen, who is expected to be arrested soon.
