In the wake of the recent contaminated water incident in Indore, the Ghaziabad Health Department has intensified efforts to safeguard drinking water quality across the district. As part of a major campaign (mahaabhiyan), water samples will be collected from both urban and rural areas on January 7, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, to assess water safety standards.

District Surveillance Officer Dr RK Gupta said that 200 water samples will be tested during the drive. Based on the findings, strict action will be taken against responsible agencies or individuals wherever lapses are detected.

To ensure immediate compliance, the health department has issued a stern directive to the Municipal Commissioner, GDA Secretary, Regional Manager of UPSIDC, and the Executive Officers of all Nagar Panchayats and Nagar Palika Parishads, instructing them to make concrete arrangements for the supply of pure and safe drinking water to residents.

The move comes amid rising concerns over public health and aims to prevent any recurrence of water contamination incidents in the district.
