The massive fire that broke out at Rungta Industries in GIDA Sector-15 early Friday morning was finally brought under complete control in the early hours of Saturday. The extinguishing operation lasted approximately 25 hours, involving a relentless effort by around 100 firefighters who remained on duty without a break.
Multi-District Firefighting Operation
Fire brigade teams from multiple districts were deployed to tackle the blaze, which had caused panic throughout the industrial area. Following the successful containment of the fire, units from Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, and Gonda have been sent back. However, the main unit from Gorakhpur remains deployed at the scene as a precautionary measure.
Challenges On The Ground
Under the leadership of Chief Fire Officer Santosh Kumar Rai, firefighters battled extreme conditions, working continuously overnight amidst freezing fog and hot steam from the site. Controlling the intense heat radiating from the pipelines and tanks proved to be the most time-consuming challenge of the operation.
Phased Withdrawal Of Units
Once the temperature was brought under control, officials began a phased reduction of the force:
Phase 1: Units from Deoria and Kushinagar were released first.
Phase 2: Fire engines from Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Maharajganj were sent back.
Phase 3: At 8:00 am on Saturday, vehicles from Siddharthnagar and Gonda were instructed to leave.

Post-Fire Safety And Inspection
Immediately after the fire was extinguished, a team of engineers was activated to inspect the site.
Leakage Detection: The primary focus is identifying leaks in the pipeline and the edges of the tanks. Experts noted that the metal was exposed to continuous heat, making it critical to seal any potential leakage points.
Pressure Testing: Engineers have already commenced pressure testing in several sections of the pipeline.
Current Status
While the fire is out, officials emphasized that the metal in several parts of the factory remains hot. A rapid response team and technical units are maintaining joint monitoring at the site to prevent any reignition. The fire department confirmed that strict surveillance will continue for the next 10–12 hours to ensure complete safety.
