An AC bus service has been launched on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, further improving connectivity between Gorakhpur and Lucknow. The new AC bus will depart from Gorakhpur station at 10:30 AM and is expected to reach Lucknow in just four hours.

A regular bus service has been operating on this route since November 17, making a brief five-minute halt at Nausarh. With increasing passenger demand, the Transport Corporation has now decided to introduce an additional regular bus service within the next one or two days. This new service will depart from Gorakhpur bus station at 8:00 AM. Officials said that more buses will also be deployed on the expressway in the coming days.

Buses on the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Link Expressway are currently running via Khajni, Sikriganj and Akbarpur. The new route has not only eased travel to Lucknow but also improved access to Akbarpur and Sultanpur.

The existing regular bus departs from Gorakhpur at 9:00 AM and reaches Alambagh by 2:00 PM. It returns from Alambagh at 5:00 PM, arriving in Gorakhpur at 10:00 PM. The fare from Gorakhpur to Alambagh is Rs 489, while the fare to Avadh Bus Station is Rs 454.

According to Mahesh Chandra, Assistant Regional Manager of the Gorakhpur Depot, passenger interest in the link expressway service has surged. He confirmed that travel time has significantly reduced, regular buses now complete the journey in five hours, compared to the earlier seven hours, saving two hours. The AC bus, meanwhile, offers a three-hour reduction.

However, passengers travelling by regular bus via the expressway are paying Rs 42 more than the standard fare to Alambagh due to the route being 40 km longer. Experts note that buses on the Basti-Ayodhya route, despite covering 306 km, take up to seven hours because of frequent stops. In contrast, the expressway route covers 246 km with no stoppages, resulting in a faster arrival.
