Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway: Uttar Pradesh, the state which boasts oo having the highest number of expressways in India, is set to get another e-way stretching 700 km and covering 22 districts between Shamli and Gorakhpur.

The expressway will be UP's longest and is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities to six hours. Currently, it takes around 12 hours to cover the distance.

Cost, progress

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The land surveys in many districts have been completed. This month, the authorities are likely to conduct aerial survey using drones.

The expressway is likely to become a reality at a cost of Rs 35,000 crore, marking the biggest expressway in India after the Mumbai-Nagpur Samriddhi Expressway in Maharashtra.
