The way has now been cleared for the establishment of defence and aerospace-related industries in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area. The Uttar Pradesh Aerospace and Defence Unit and Employment Promotion Policy was approved at the 64th GIDA board meeting, held on Thursday at the Commissioner's auditorium under the chairmanship of Commissioner and GIDA Board Chairman, Anil Dhingra. Following this decision, Gorakhpur will, for the first time, become a hub for major industrial units related to the defence manufacturing and aerospace sectors. This will not only boost investment but also create technical and high-level employment opportunities for local youth. GIDA OSD Anupam Mishra stated that the Uttar Pradesh Aerospace and Defence Unit and Employment Promotion Policy-2024 was approved at the board meeting.
Land Acquisition Plan For Tata And Reliance In Dhuriyapar
Prioritising defence and aerospace units, a plan has been made for land acquisition in new villages in the Dhuriyapar area. A grant of Rs 400 crore has also been received from the government to provide land to large companies such as Tata and Reliance. In the first phase, there is a proposal to allocate 450 acres of land. It was stated at the board meeting that efforts will be made to acquire land from farmers by mutual consent at 2 to 2.5 times the circle rate. Land will be made available swiftly for new units in Dhuriyapar and the proposed industrial corridor.
Expansion Of Industrial Corridors And Record Land Allocation
To accelerate industrial expansion in the GIDA area, the board approved the preparation of a master plan for the villages of Baraur, Siyar, Sahjupar, and Chakbhop. This area will span over approximately 700 acres. Alongside this, an agreement was also reached on the proposal to amend the layout of Sector-27. At the meeting, GIDA CEO Anuj Malik stated that this is the first time in the authority's history that a record 213 acres of land have been allocated in a single year. After a new project in January, this figure will reach 250 acres.
Affordable Housing Scheme: EWS A LIG Flats For Workers
Flats are being constructed by GIDA for people in the low-income group under the residential scheme in Sector 11, Kalesar. Rates have been fixed for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) and LIG (Low-Income Group) flats. The authority is preparing to make EWS flats available for approximately Rs 513,000, while LIG flats will be available for Rs 1,012,000. The carpet area of the EWS flats is approximately 40 square metres, while the carpet area for LIG flats is approximately 48 square metres. There are 48 of each type of flat. A decision is yet to be made on the reservation quota for workers employed in GIDA's industries. Entrepreneurs are demanding a 50 per cent reservation for the workers. District Magistrate Deepak Meena, GIDA Vice Chairman Anand Vardhan and other officials were present at the meeting.
