Gorakhpur Traffic Advisory: SP Announces Major Diversions, Heavy Vehicle Ban During Festivities Until Oct 4 | Details

Traffic diversions will be in place in Gorakhpur from October 2 to 4 due to Durga idol immersion processions. Heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering the city, with exemptions only for ambulances and emergency vehicles.

In view of the expected large crowds and processions during the Durga idol immersion, Gorakhpur authorities have announced major changes to the city’s traffic system from October 2 to 4. The arrangements will be in effect from 4 PM on the day of immersion until the conclusion of the event.

The SP Traffic clarified that, except for ambulances and emergency vehicles, entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be completely restricted during this period. The administration has urged citizens to use alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel.

Key Diversions Announced:

-From Lucknow: Heavy vehicles will be diverted via Sahjanwa bypass zero point, proceeding through Baghagada, Ramnagar Karjahan, and the Jungle Kaudia four-lane highway.

-From Varanasi, Azamgarh, Mau, and Barhalganj: Vehicles will be diverted from the Baghagada four-lane highway near Belipar police station, via Ramnagar, Karjahan and Kalesar.

-From Kushinagar: Vehicles will exit via the Koni four-lane highway and Ramnagar Karjahan.

-From Deoria: Vehicles will proceed via Ramnagar Karjahan four-lane highway and Baghagada.

-Roadways buses from Gorakhpur bus station (towards Lucknow and Varanasi) will be rerouted through Padleganj, Mohaddipur Chauraha, Deoria bypass, and Ramnagar Karjahan; four-wheelers may also be diverted if necessary.

-Roadways buses from Nausad Chauraha towards TP Nagar will run via Baghagada, Ramnagar Karjahan, and Kalesar.

-Oil tankers, gas tankers, milk vans, and government vehicles will be sent towards Farenda-Sonauli via Vishwavidyalaya Chauraha, Mohaddipur, Charphatak overbridge, Kauwabagh bypass, Asuran, Khajanchi, Sports College, Ramnagar, Industrial Area, and Bargadwa Chauraha.

-Heavy vehicles from Farenda and Pipiganj heading towards Gorakhnath Temple will be restricted and sent via Bargadwa, Industrial Area, Ramnagar, Sports College, and Khajanchi to Deoria and Kushinagar.

-Three- and four-wheeled vehicles from Nausad Tirahe will remain diverted until the immersion concludes, taking Baghagada and Ramnagar Karjahan routes.

Authorities have requested public cooperation to ensure smooth traffic flow during the immersion festivities.
