Gorakhpur Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Expected; IMD Warns Residents
The temperature in Gorakhpur dropped by 6.1 degrees in three days.

Heavier rainfall is expected today, Saturday, October 4, following a pleasant, rainy Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for residents to remain cautious. The spell of scattered rain is likely to continue through Sunday, bringing relief from humidity during the day but a slight chill at night.

On Friday, the city experienced pleasant weather with a maximum temperature of 29.5°C, which is 3.5 degrees below the seasonal normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 24.1°C, slightly above normal by 0.7 degrees. A total of 1.5 mm of rainfall was recorded, with humidity levels ranging from a high of 95 per cent to a low of 78 per cent.

This marks a significant temperature drop of 6.1°C since October 1, when the maximum temperature was recorded at a much warmer 35.6°C.

Meteorological Analysis

According to local meteorologist T.B. Singh, this weather pattern is caused by a depression that remains active over interior Odisha. As of 8:30 am on Friday, the system was centered near Phulbani, Odisha, and moving in a north-north-westerly direction at approximately 15 km/h.

The depression is forecast to move across interior Odisha and Chhattisgarh, likely weakening into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours.

Forecast And Advisory

The influence of this system is expected to bring heavy rainfall to several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Gorakhpur, on Saturday. The forecast also includes:

- Strong winds at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h.

- The possibility of thunderstorms with lightning.
