In a tragic incident on Monday evening, an elderly man lost his life after being hit by a motorcycle and subsequently run over by an unknown vehicle on the Gorakhpur-Sonauli road.
The Incident
The victim, identified as Gulab Sahni, a resident of Raipur, was walking along the side of the road opposite Raipur village when the accident occurred.
Sequence of Events: According to reports, a speeding motorcycle first collided with Sahni. The impact was so forceful that the motorcyclist lost control and fell onto the road, while Sahni was thrown some distance away.
Fatal Hit: While Sahni was lying on the road, an unknown four-wheeled vehicle approaching from behind ran over him.
Outcome: Gulab Sahni died at the scene. The driver of the four-wheeler fled with the vehicle immediately after the incident.
Injuries And Police Action
The motorcyclist involved in the initial collision also sustained injuries.
Police Response: The Pipiganj police reached the spot and transported the injured motorcyclist to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Jangal Kaudia for treatment.
Investigation: Station House Officer (SHO) Arun Singh stated that the body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Search for Accused: The police have launched a manhunt for the unknown vehicle. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined to trace the vehicle and the driver who fled the scene.
