The Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) disconnected the electricity supply of Himalaya Pride Society at 10 AM on Monday due to unpaid dues amounting to Rs 37,36,231, affecting over 1,000 residents. Power remained suspended for nearly eight hours, forcing the society to rely entirely on backup generators. The supply was restored around 6 PM after the outstanding amount was paid.
NPCL spokesperson Manoj Jha said the society has a history of delayed bill payments. Despite repeated notices, the dues were not cleared, prompting the disconnection.

The issue has triggered strong reactions from residents. Former MP and society resident Naresh Nautiyal complained to the District Magistrate, alleging serious financial irregularities by the builder. He claimed that although water and electricity charges are regularly collected from residents, payments are not made to authorities or NPCL.
Nautiyal further accused the builder of withholding quarterly audit reports for the past seven years and previously cutting power to 400 flats at once. He has demanded a high-level inquiry, immediate settlement of NPCL dues, public release of pending audit reports, and a permanent resolution to the society’s recurring electricity problems.
Approximately 1,120 families live in the society.
