A landlord couple was assaulted and threatened with death by their tenants in the Collector Ganj locality of the Kotwali area on Wednesday night. Following a complaint by the victims, the police have registered a case against three accused individuals and launched an investigation.
The Dispute
According to the police report filed by the victim, Diksha Kakkar, she had rented out a property approximately one year ago to Neeta Batla, her son Manu Batla, and his wife Asha Batla, all residents of the same locality. Recently, Kakkar intended to sell the house and had verbally requested the tenants to vacate the premises on multiple occasions. However, the tenants refused to comply, which subsequently stalled the registration process for the sale of the property.
The Assault
The situation escalated on the night of December 24, 2025.
Trespass and Abuse: At around 8:30 pm, the three accused—Neeta, Manu and Asha Batla—entered Kakkar’s residence and began verbally abusing her.

Physical Violence: When Diksha's husband, Sanjay Kakkar, objected to the abuse, the accused physically assaulted the couple, subjecting them to kicks and punches. During the scuffle, Diksha Kakkar’s left earring fell off and was lost.
Death Threats: The accused threatened the couple, stating that if they were asked to vacate the house again, they would be killed rather than just beaten.
Aftermath
Hearing the commotion, neighbors gathered at the scene, prompting the accused to flee while continuing to issue threats. The victim contacted the 112 emergency helpline, but the attackers had escaped by the time the police arrived. The Kakkar family has stated they are now living in fear following the incident.
Police Action
Kotwali In-charge Inspector Devendra Singh Bisht confirmed that a report has been registered based on the victim's complaint. He assured that the matter is under investigation and strict action will be taken against the accused once the probe is concluded.
