A PRV-112 police team responding to a report of a clash between two groups in Nurpur village, under the Junction Kotwali area, was suddenly attacked by villagers on Friday night. A large crowd, including women, surrounded the police personnel, pelted stones at their vehicle, and assaulted the officers. As a result, the vehicle's windows were shattered, and three policemen sustained injuries.

Mob Violence: Allegations Of Slapping A Teen

Following a dispute between two parties in Nurpur village, the police received information that the situation was deteriorating. When the police team arrived at the scene, villagers accused a policeman of slapping a teenager and attempting to force him into the police vehicle.

This accusation instantly triggered the villagers' fury. The mob surrounded the officers, dragged them out of the vehicle, and attacked them with sticks and stones. Women also joined in, grabbing and beating the policemen, creating a chaotic situation.

Police Plead For Safety; Allegations Of Intoxication

During the assault, some police personnel pleaded with folded hands to be let go, but the mob's rage did not subside. Villagers alleged that the policemen were intoxicated and claimed that a liquor bottle was found in their vehicle. Meanwhile, some villagers also accused the police of misbehavior.

The situation deteriorated to such an extent that the officers had to plead with the villagers to save their lives. Additional police forces from the Hathras Junction station and other locations were eventually rushed to the scene to control the situation.

Rescue And Legal Action

After much effort, the police team was safely rescued. Many individuals involved in the attack fled the scene. The police have registered a case against those responsible for the stone-pelting and assault and have initiated an investigation.

SP Suspends One Cop; FIR Against 14

The police have registered a case against seven named individuals and seven unidentified persons and have commenced legal action. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Chiranjivi Nath Sinha has suspended one police officer involved in the incident and ordered a departmental inquiry against him.
