Lucknow News: An outsourced employee posted at the Transport Nagar RTO office in Lucknow to issue smart driving licences will be removed after evidence emerged of links with brokers. The action comes within a month of the employee’s posting, following complaints of irregularities in DL-related work.

Mobile Check Reveals Evidence

According to officials, the employee, Kapil Deep, was found accepting money from outsiders in the name of facilitating driving licences. On December 20, a mobile phone inspection was conducted on the instructions of RTO Administrator Sanjay Kumar Tiwari. The check revealed photos, chats and call records pointing to transactions with brokers.

Officials said the findings confirmed the complaints that had been received earlier regarding collusion between outsourced staff and middlemen.

Change In Companies, Old Issues Persist

The Transport Department recently removed Smart Chip Company and assigned work across 25 districts each to three new private firms. Despite the change, several employees from the old company continued working under the new system.

From December 1, new companies took charge of smart DL work across the state. Silver Touch was assigned responsibility in Lucknow. Six employees were posted in the city from the Transport Headquarters and nearby districts.

However, officials said complaints about staff involvement with brokers surfaced soon after the transition.

Termination Recommended

Following the investigation, ARTO Administration Pradeep Kumar Singh wrote to Silver Touch Company, recommending the immediate removal of the employee from the RTO office. The private firm has been asked to terminate his services and deploy a new staff member in his place.

Officials said the company is responsible for verifying driving licences, printing them and dispatching them to applicants. The department has warned that strict action will continue against any staff found violating rules or facilitating illegal practices through brokers.
