The Municipal Corporation has taken a significant step towards making the property tax system digital and transparent. Soon, property owners will be able to view the complete details of their property tax via a mobile app and a portal. In addition, if they receive an incorrect property tax bill, they can register their objection from home. To facilitate this, the Municipal Corporation is planning to make the Property Tax Management System public.

Key Features And Benefits Of The Digital System

Property owners will be able to view their past and current bills by entering their PTIN number. In addition, the building's construction area, the method of its calculation, a photo, and its location will also be available on the portal.

Online Payments: The facility for online payment will also be provided via the app or portal.

Instant Objections: If a property owner believes their property tax bill is incorrect, they will be able to register their objection immediately on the app and portal.

Strict Timelines: A specific time limit will be set within which objections must be resolved.

Direct Communication: The contact numbers of the corporation's Revenue Inspectors will also be available, allowing people to communicate directly.

Digital Incentives: An additional discount will be offered for payments made digitally.

Status Of Property Tax Objections And Collection

More than 12,000 objections regarding property tax bills have been registered with the corporation to date. The objections are being heard and resolved through camps held on Grievance Redressal Days and other days. Against the annual target of Rs 133 crore for the current financial year, property tax collection has reached Rs 72 crore.

Enhanced Transparency And Ward Management

The responsibilities of the tax section will also be clearly defined. The portal will display red, blue and green signals based on the status of property tax arrears, indicating how many property owners in a ward have paid their tax and how many are in default.

Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar said that the process of uploading the details of property owners for each ward is in its final stage. This facility will be made available to the public soon. Efforts are being made to make the process of distributing property tax bills and resolving objections transparent through digitalisation. This will improve the rate of property tax payment once the records of all property owners have been corrected.
