In anticipation of New Year’s Eve celebrations, SSP Dr Vipin Tada has issued a comprehensive security action plan to maintain law and order. The police department has warned that while citizens are encouraged to celebrate, any disruption to public peace or violation of safety norms will result in immediate custody.
Strict Enforcement Against Drunk Driving And Stunts
The police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward traffic violations and public nuisance:
- Drunk Driving: Extensive checkpoints will be set up using breathalysers. Individuals found driving under the influence will be taken into custody. Party-goers are strongly advised to hire a driver or travel with a sober companion.
- Stunt Biking: Special surveillance teams are deployed to monitor and detain individuals performing dangerous bike stunts.
- Surveillance: Plainclothes female officers and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) teams will be stationed in public places to gather covert information.
Guidelines For Hotels, Restaurants And Malls
Strict standards have been set for venues hosting events on Wednesday and Thursday:
- Venue Standards: Events will not be permitted in hotels that do not meet safety requirements.
- Mandatory Requirements: Owners must provide private security guards, functional fire safety equipment, and comprehensive CCTV coverage.
- Alcohol Monitoring: Police will strictly monitor the quality and type of alcohol served at parties.
- Noise Control: The use of loudspeakers or external music systems is prohibited after 10:00 pm. Event organisers will be held legally responsible for any noise complaints.
Security Deployment By The Numbers
The city has been fortified with a multi-tier security ring:
- Zonal Division: The city is divided into 14 sectors and 9 zones.
- Special Forces: 3 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed.

Police Personnel: 14 Station House Officers (SHOs) and 9 Circle Officers (COs).

SSP Dr Vipin Tada emphasised that the force is deployed for public safety. All Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) are on high alert.
