Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Noida International Airport on October 30, an event poised to launch a new wave of development in Western Uttar Pradesh. The government aims to showcase the inauguration as a landmark achievement of its development model, particularly ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections.

The implementing agency, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), is accelerating work to finalise preparations for the grand opening. A large public meeting, expected to be attended by 100,000 to 150,000 people from seven districts of Western UP, as well as from neighboring Delhi and Haryana, will be held at the airport. During the event, the Prime Minister may also lay the foundation stone for the proposed Film City and other regional development projects.

The Rs 29,500 crore airport project is projected to provide employment to 550,000 people, significantly boosting trade and industries across Western UP and the wider Delhi NCR.

Dispute-Free Land Acquisition Highlighted

The government is highlighting the smooth, dispute-free process of land acquisition and village displacement for the project as a major success. For the first phase, 1,334 hectares of land were acquired from six villages. Additionally, 3,000 farmer families from seven villages were displaced and resettled without any major conflict under the new land acquisition law.

A Phased Expansion Plan

Noida International Airport is planned to be developed in four phases, eventually becoming one of the world's largest airports with six runways, including two dedicated to cargo.

Phase 1 (Complete): Features one runway, a terminal building, and a cargo hub, with an initial annual capacity of 12 million passengers.

Phase 2 (by 2031): Passenger capacity will increase to 30 million annually.

Phase 3 (by 2036): Capacity will reach 50 million passengers.

Phase 4 (by 2040): The airport will reach its full potential with a capacity of 70 million passengers, six runways, multiple terminal buildings and a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub.
