Patna's Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport is upgrading its passenger experience with the introduction of modern, world-class executive lounges, bringing its facilities in line with major metropolitan airports like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The airport management has issued a tender to operate two new executive lounges in the new terminal building. The facilities are expected to be operational by Diwali this year.

Upgraded Facilities And Access

The new lounges will offer a premium experience for travelers. Amenities will include comfortable seating, a selection of newspapers and magazines, flight information display boards, and complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks. The lounges will also be equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, mobile charging points, and air conditioning in a clean, modern environment.

While access to the lounges will be a paid service with rates yet to be determined, many travelers will benefit from complimentary access. Numerous banks offer lounge access as a perk on their debit and credit cards. Eligible cardholders will be able to enjoy benefits worth up to Rs 2,000 for a nominal fee of just one or two rupees. General passengers can also pay a fee to use the facilities.

Addressing Past Shortcomings

This initiative directly addresses passenger complaints about the previous lounge at Patna Airport, which was often criticized for its limited seating and lack of food and beverage options. The new, larger lounges are designed to provide a high level of comfort and service, offering significant relief to business travelers, transit passengers, and those with long waits before their flights.
