The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in the NCR districts of Noida and Ghaziabad concluded on Friday, with around 3,50,000 voters, or 8 per cent of the total electorate, marked as ‘unmapped’. Officials said notices will be issued to these voters, along with guidance on the documents required for the next phase.

In Noida, 180,000 voters (9.8 per cent of 1.87 million) were classified as unmapped. According to Additional District Election Officer Atul Kumar, these individuals, or their family members, could not be linked to the 2003 electoral roll. In Ghaziabad, 160,000 voters (5.6 per cent of 2.84 million) were similarly unmapped, said District Election Officer Saurabh Bhatt.

Across Ghaziabad’s five assembly constituencies, verification of 2,837,991 voters was conducted under the SIR campaign. Among them, 818,362 names were removed due to voters being shifted, absent, deceased, or duplicates. Digitisation work was reported at 71.17 per cent completion by December 27.

The highest number of removals was recorded in Sahibabad, where nearly 400,000 names (38.32 per cent) were struck off from over 1 million voters. Modinagar had the fewest removals, with 51,781 names removed from 334,765 voters. In Gautambuddhanagar, 448,000 voters were placed in the absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate (ASD) category following enumeration.

The administration noted that 1,84,000 voters’ forms are still pending, and camps will be held from January 1 to receive objections and complete documentation. The draft voter list will be prepared on December 31, with the final list scheduled for publication on February 28, 2026.

Officials clarified that ‘unmapped’ voters are those whose presence was recorded but could not be linked to earlier records, whereas those in the ASD category were not found at their addresses, have moved, are deceased, or are duplicates. Names removed under the ASD category can be contested through Form 6 or 7.

The Election Officer appealed to all voters to check their status and ensure they have the necessary documents ready, emphasising that this process is aimed at cleaning the electoral rolls to ensure free and fair elections.
