A mobile passport service van was launched on Wednesday at the Sector 19 main post office, Noida, to make passport-related services more accessible to the public. The facility was inaugurated by Manoj Kumar, Head Postmaster of the Postal Department.
Ghaziabad Regional Passport Officer Anuj Swarup said the initiative is aimed at providing citizens the convenience of applying for and processing passports closer to their homes, thereby reducing the need to visit passport offices. He also clarified that no additional fee will be charged for availing of the mobile service.
The initiative has been introduced under the Ministry of External Affairs’ outreach programme to enhance the reach and efficiency of passport services. The mobile passport van will operate three days a week and is expected to cater to around 40 applicants each day.
Regional Passport Officer Consultant Tejinder Anand said the service will be gradually extended to more areas in the coming days, further improving access to passport facilities for residents.
