A 22-year-old woman in Noida was strangled to death by her boyfriend, who then attempted suicide by slitting his own throat with a knife, police said on Friday. A senior police officer reported that the 42-year-old man had been arrested and charged with murder.
He is presently receiving treatment at a hospital. According to Additional DCP, Central Noida, Hirdesh Katheriya, the locals notified the Sector 63 Police Station about the incident in Chhijarsi village on Wednesday night at around 10 o'clock.
"When the police team reached the site they found both of them in an injured condition and were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared the woman dead while the man was admitted for treatment because of the injuries on his throat," Mr Katheriya said.

"During probe, it came to light that the woman, identified as Nisha, a native of Ballia district who was staying in Delhi, and the man, Dhanajay Kumar, who lived in Chhijarsi village in Noida, were in a love relationship," the officer said.
They have been dating for about a year, but on Wednesday, when Nisha went to see Dhananjay at his house, they got into a fight about something and he killed her by strangulation, according to Mr. Katheriya.
The reason for the argument that resulted in the woman being violently attacked is being looked into by the police.
According to Mr Katheriya, the police have filed a formal complaint under section 302 of the IPC, which pertains to murder. The accused will appear in local court after being released from the hospital.
