Noida: A cyclist was killed in Noida’s Sector 31 earlier today after being struck by a speeding BMW. Following the collision, local police detained the speeding BMW driver on suspicion of drunk driving. Visuals from the accident site surfaced on the internet, showing the aftermath of the fatal collision.
According to news agency PTI, the impact of the collision was so severe that it reduced the bicycle to shambles and caused heavy damage to the front end of the SUV, with debris scattered across the roadway. Authorities are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited.

Speeding SUV Kills 6-Year-Old In Ghaziabad, IT Executive Detained
In a similar incident earlier this October, a six-year-old boy was killed after being run over by an SUV while attending a roadside bhandara (community feast) in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram. The fatal accident occurred around 1:15 PM in the busy residential area of Shakti Khand. The victim, a six-year-old son of a construction worker, was struck while he was returning home after attending a community feast.
The collision sparked outrage among local residents, who apprehended the driver at the scene and handed him over to the police. Authorities identified the driver as a 40-year-old executive currently employed with an IT firm based in Noida.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the vehicle, a white Tata Harrier SUV, involved in the accident, swerved to avoid a pothole, leading to the fatal collision. While the victim’s family has alleged that the vehicle was speeding, authorities stated that initial findings do not support that claim. An investigation is currently underway to determine the speed of the SUV at the time of the accident, the report added.
