Noida News: A case of alleged medical negligence has surfaced in Greater Noida after doctors found a piece of surgical cloth inside a woman’s abdomen more than a year after she underwent a Caesarean section. The discovery was made around 15 months after the delivery, following persistent health problems faced by the woman.

The surgery had been performed at a private hospital in Greater Noida. According to the family, the woman continued to suffer from complications for several months after childbirth, prompting repeated medical consultations.

Complaint Filed By Husband

After the surgical cloth was detected during a medical examination, the woman’s husband approached the police. He filed a complaint at the Knowledge Park police station on December 24, accusing the hospital staff of gross negligence during the C-section procedure.

Police said the complaint alleged that the cloth should have been removed during the original surgery but was left inside the body, leading to prolonged suffering.

FIR Against Doctors And Officials

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against six people. These include doctors who were involved in the Caesarean surgery and officials from the health department.

The FIR also names:

- The Chief Medical Officer

- Two health officials who were appointed to probe the matter

The complainant alleged that there was an attempt to shield those responsible instead of taking timely action.

Sections Invoked Under BNS

Police said the accused have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

- Section 125: For acts endangering life or personal safety due to rash or negligent behaviour

- Section 125(b): For negligent acts causing grievous harm, punishable with up to three years in jail

- Section 255: For allegations that public servants knowingly disobeyed the law to protect an accused

- Section 351(2): For criminal intimidation

Investigation Ongoing

Police officials said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events, fix accountability and verify whether proper medical protocols were followed.

Authorities added that statements of medical staff and officials will be recorded, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
