Greater Noida Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar has ordered an urgent drive to identify and repair all potholes, road depressions and hazardous stretches following the death of an engineer whose car plunged into a water-filled roadside basement in Noida’s Sector 150. Stressing zero tolerance for negligence, he also directed officials to ensure proper signage, road markings and safety arrangements across the city to prevent similar incidents.

Authority launches rapid safety audit of roads
Acting on the directions, ACEO Shrilakshmi VS convened an online review meeting with GM AK Singh and in-charges of all work circles. Officers have been instructed to conduct intensive field surveys in their respective areas and flag potholes, sharp turns, accident black spots and other vulnerable points within three days. From Monday, project department teams, under the supervision of ACEOs Shrilakshmi VS and Sumit Yadav, began mapping accident-prone locations.
Field inspections are underway, with measures such as installing road markers and reflectors, painting central verge walls, barricading open drains, and placing speed breakers on link roads being implemented. Officials have been warned that failure to address black spots promptly will invite disciplinary action.
Lighting, builder compliance and fog-related risks addressed
The electrical wing has been told to ensure all streetlights are functional, while builders must strictly follow safety norms at construction sites. Each work circle will submit an affidavit confirming compliance. Additionally, eight dedicated teams have been formed to identify black spots during dense winter fog, with nodal officers’ contact details released for public reporting.
Noida Software Engineer Died Due To Poor Road Condition
1. A 27-year-old software engineer, Yuvraj Mehta, died after his car plunged into a water-filled ditch in Greater Noida while he was returning home from work.
2. The accident occurred near Sector 150 when dense fog and poor visibility caused the vehicle to hit an unmarked drainage edge and lose control.
3. The car reportedly struck an elevated ridge between two drains before falling nearly 70 feet and getting completely submerged.

4. Trapped inside the vehicle, Mehta made a desperate call to his father, saying he was drowning and pleading for help as locals struggled to reach him.
5. Eyewitnesses alleged a major delay in rescue efforts, claiming the victim cried for help for nearly two hours and blamed authorities for negligence.
