Earlier today, taking cognisance of the matter, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, ordered a probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after a 27-year-old software engineer succumbed to a road accident, when his car fell in 70 fit pit.
A three-member SIT team has been formed to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident in Sector 150, where the techie's car plunged into a water-filled pit at a construction site on Saturday.
Additional Director General (ADG), Meerut Zone, will lead the SIT probe. Two other members of the team are the Meerut divisional commissioner and the chief engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD).
"The team has been asked to conduct a detailed investigation and submit its report to the chief minister within five days," an official statement said.
What Happened With Noida Techie
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, when a 27-year-old Yuvraj Mehta was returning to his home in Noida's Sector 150 amid dense fog. While he was on his way, his car plunged into 70 fit deep water-filled pit at an underconstruction site.
Techie, who worked with a Gurugram-based company, struggled for his life and dialled his father for help. The delivery agent who tried to save the techie reportedly claimed that rescue efforts were delayed and suggested that the engineer could have survived if action had been taken more promptly.
Police have also registered a case against two builders, MJ Wishtown Planner Limited and Lotus Green Construction Private Limited, on a complaint by the victim's family, while denying negligence in the rescue operation.
The incident triggered massive outrage among residents who alleged that inadequate barricading and a lack of reflectors at the accident-prone site.
