The Noida Authority will implement several measures along the roads in Sector 62 and Sector 63, Chhijarsi village to improve pedestrian safety and ease traffic congestion caused by people walking on the roads, officials said on Sunday. The Sector 63 road, which runs parallel to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, is set to be widened up to the Chhijarsi intersection and will also undergo beautification, according to Noida Authority officials. A tender worth Rs 6.5 crore has been issued to hire a contractor for the project.

“This project is part of the authority’s plan to develop a 3.5-kilometre-long model mobility corridor between Sector 62 roundabout and Mamura tri-section. The corridor aims to ease traffic bottlenecks in the area. A tender was issued earlier this year for road widening and improvement works, and four agencies have reportedly shown interest,” said Noida authority’s general manager Vijay Rawal, according to HT reports.
Sector 62 Circular Skywalk
Meanwhile, the Noida Authority also plans to construct a circular skywalk at Sector 62 to accommodate the thousands of pedestrians who use National Highway-9 (Delhi-Meerut Expressway) every day.
The skywalk, designed in the shape of a roundabout, will feature escalators on two corners of the Noida side and lifts on two corners along the NH-9 side to ensure convenient access for pedestrians. According to officials, the Noida Authority has finalised both the design and the detailed project report (DPR) for the structure, which is expected to cost approximately Rs 40 crore.
“The proposed skywalk will have a circumference of around 400 metres and will be covered with an iron sheet to protect pedestrians from the sun and rain,” said Rawal, according to HT report.
The circular skywalk will provide seamless access for pedestrians approaching from all directions. An existing foot overbridge for commuters coming from Ghaziabad will be integrated into the new structure, allowing people to move directly toward Noida, officials said.
