Security arrangements at Supertech Ecocity in Sector-137, Noida, collapsed on Tuesday after 42 security guards launched an unannounced strike over three months of unpaid salaries, ahead of a scheduled NCLT hearing. The strike left the society without security from 8 AM until Tuesday afternoon, forcing the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) to shut most gates and urgently arrange replacement guards.
AOA vice-president Om Dutt Sharma said the society’s security and maintenance are managed by YG Estate, an agency associated with Supertech. Guards allege they have repeatedly faced delayed salaries, and despite assurances from YG Estate that wages would be cleared by November 17, no payment was made, triggering the walkout. As of Tuesday evening, only two personnel were present on duty.

With 10,000 residents living across 2,150 flats, the situation has raised serious safety concerns. The AOA said that although maintenance and security were supposed to be handed over to the elected body, YG Estate did not transfer responsibilities, despite prior notices. The dispute is currently under consideration at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), with the next hearing scheduled for November 21.
According to the AOA, the court had directed the agency to continue handling security and maintenance until the hearing, but the agency has failed to comply. The AOA has written to the Police Commissioner, District Magistrate, and other officials seeking intervention.
YG Estate Director Nitish Arora did not respond to calls. In a statement, he claimed the AOA has collected Rs 70-80 lakh in camp charges but is not paying personnel-related expenses, leading to a shortage of funds.
“Whatever decision comes from the court, we will accept and act accordingly,” he said.
