Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0, funds were distributed to beneficiaries on Sunday at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Auditorium of Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut. As part of the first instalment, a total amount of Rs 5.43 crore was transferred to the accounts of 543 beneficiaries from Meerut district.
The fund distribution was carried out simultaneously across Uttar Pradesh, with the main state-level programme held in Lucknow. A live telecast of the Chief Minister’s address was also screened during the district-level event in Meerut.
During the programme, Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia and District Magistrate Dr VK Singh handed over fund disbursement letters to the beneficiaries. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar, ADM (City) Brijesh Singh and other officials were also present.
Beneficiaries expressed happiness over receiving the assistance. Seema, a resident of Bahsuma, said she was overjoyed after the amount was credited to her account, as she did not have a house earlier and can now begin construction.
Another beneficiary, Rajbiri, said that she too was homeless and, with the support of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, will now be able to build her own house.
