A two-member team from the judicial commission reached Sambhal district on Sunday to inspect the situation and uncover the reasons that led to a clash between police officials and locals in the city. The team first went to the police station and then marched to the post office via the main market along with the DM and SP.

The team reached the place where the car and bike were set on fire during the clash and also inspected the road towards the waterworks along with the officials. Upon taking information from the authorities, they reached Jama Masjid, the point where the clash began. In a conversation of almost 15 minutes, they talked to several committee members and local shopkeepers. The team then reached Ekta Police Station and marched towards Hindu Pura Kheda along with other officials, including Commissioner DIG. They inspected the place where the local women pelted stones, and then a bike was set on fire.

A massive political row erupted after 4 people died in a clash between locals and police officials during the survey of the mosque. Several opposition leaders claimed that the Uttar Pradesh government was unable to enforce the law and order and that the clash was the result of the communal rift the BJP has created in the state. A delegation of the Samajwadi Party was stopped from entering the scene after Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Vishnoi announced that no political delegations would be allowed within district boundaries. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that he was not allowed to visit the site, and it shows that the Yogi government has no command over the law and order.
