In a move aimed at strengthening higher education infrastructure in Western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR), the Uttar Pradesh State Cabinet has cleared the way for IIMT University, Meerut, to establish an off-campus centre in Greater Noida. The Cabinet has approved the proposal to issue a Letter of Permission (LOP) for the operation of this new facility.

Campus Details And Academic Offerings

The new off-campus has been developed on approximately five acres of land situated near the existing IIMT college in Greater Noida. Construction of the building is already complete.

Courses: The campus will offer professional courses including B.Tech, BBA, BCA and MBA.

Certification: Students enrolled at this facility will receive valid degrees from IIMT University, Meerut.

Regulatory Framework And Approval

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay confirmed the development, citing the legal framework that facilitates such expansions.

Legal Provision: The off-campus is being established under the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act, 2019, and its Second Amendment Act, 2021, which includes provisions allowing private universities to open off-campus centres.

Sponsoring Body: The proposal was initiated by the university's sponsoring body, the 'Association of Management Studies, Meerut', which selected the land within the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority area.

Timeline: A Letter of Intent (LOI) regarding this proposal was previously issued on February 25, 2025. With all formalities now complete, the government has granted final approval for operations to commence.

Precedent In The State

This approval marks a continued effort by the state government to expand educational access. Previously, JLA Mathura University was also granted similar permission to open an off-campus centre in the state.
