To eradicate the illegal drug trade from its roots in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared a decisive war under a 'zero tolerance' policy. The Allahabad High Court's firm stance against the international syndicate poisoning the youth with codeine-based cough syrup has placed a judicial seal of approval on the government's actions. 

The court's rejection of 'stay of arrest' petitions from 22 accused individuals is a clear signal that it is now impossible for criminals to escape the clutches of the law. During a four-day marathon hearing at the Allahabad High Court, the Yogi government completely dismantled the arguments of the mafia's lawyers, who had attempted to portray the issue as a mere technical 'licence violation'.

Following arguments from Additional Advocate General Anoop Trivedi, the court clarified that the illegal storage of cough syrup falls under the purview of the NDPS Act. The government proved that this is not just illegal trade, but an organised crime that is destroying generations. Key accused individuals such as Shubham Jaiswal, Bhola Prasad, and Vibhor Rana were denied any relief from arrest. 

This campaign, which began in October 2025, has now become the largest anti-drug operation in the country's history. Joint teams of the STF, FSDA, and the police have unravelled the layers of this Rs 2,000 crore black empire stretching from Nepal to Bangladesh. 

The investigation revealed that individuals like CA Vishnu Agarwal and dismissed constable Alok Pratap Singh had woven a web to launder black money through 140 shell companies. Attempts to destroy evidence of this network, which extends to Jharkhand, Himachal, and Haryana, have also been foiled.

The Yogi government's next strike is aimed at the financial backbone of the mafia. Merely sending them to jail is not enough; preparations are complete to cripple the criminals financially. The process of attaching properties under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita has been initiated. So far, more than 30 bank accounts have been frozen.

Bulldozer action: Illegal structures in Varanasi, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Saharanpur, built with the illicit earnings from the drug trade, have been identified. The roar of bulldozers will soon be heard at these sites. This action by the Chief Minister has sent a clear message that anyone who gambles with the future of Uttar Pradesh's youth will have to pay a heavy price.
