The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is ready to conduct the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 on September 6 and 7. This year, a massive 2,531,996 candidates will be taking the exam, which is the first step for various government jobs in the state.

The exam will be held over two days, with two shifts each day. About 633,000 candidates will appear in each shift across 1,479 centers in 48 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Why Is The PET Exam Important?

The PET exam is a mandatory screening test for anyone who wants to apply for Group 'C' government jobs in Uttar Pradesh (such as clerks, junior assistants, etc.). Only candidates who clear this exam will be eligible to apply for further recruitment drives for these positions.

Scoring Rules & Scorecard Validity

Qualifying Marks: To pass, a candidate must score more than one mark. Anyone receiving zero or negative marks will be considered disqualified. While all candidates with a positive score are eligible, those with higher scores will be given preference for future job openings.

Big Update on Validity: This year, the PET scorecard will be valid for three years. This allows successful candidates to apply for any relevant job vacancies announced by the commission for the next three years without having to retake the test.

Special Arrangements for a Smooth Exam

Fairness and Monitoring: To ensure a transparent exam, control rooms have been set up at every center. The entire process will be centrally monitored from the UPSSSC headquarters.

Convenience for Candidates: Women and differently-abled candidates have been allotted exam centers in their home districts.

A mobile app has been launched by the commission to provide easy access to information. It has already been downloaded by over 400,000 users.

The exam will be held in the following 48 districts:

Agra, Firozabad, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, Fatehpur, Mau, Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Basti, Gonda, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Raebareli, Sitapur, Unnao, Bulandshahr, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Amroha, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, and Varanasi.

An Important Update for Some Female Candidates

The commission has noted that around 22 female candidates mistakenly selected 'Male' in their application forms. This error led to their exam centers being assigned to other districts instead of their home districts. After these candidates reached out via email, the commission has acknowledged the issue and is looking into making the necessary corrections.
