An 18-year-old girl set herself on fire after she was allegedly harassed by two men in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur on Saturday. The teenager, who lived in Hussainganj, succumbed to her injuries following the incident, police said.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning in Hussainganj, where the victim was reportedly molested daily by the two men. Distressed by the harassment, the victim immolated herself at her residence and identified her harassers before passing away.
''She was harassed on her way home. Due to the repeated molestation by the two men in the neighbourhood, she took the extreme step and set herself on fire at home on Saturday. Before she took her last breath, she told her mother the names of the two men who had harassed her," her family member said.
Police have confirmed the death by suicide and are conducting an investigation, with the accused expected to be apprehended shortly. The victim’s family is calling for the delay of her post-mortem examination until the suspects are detained.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Vijay Shankar Mishra assured that the investigation is active and the arrest of the accused will take place soon. "The family members have accused the neighbours of molesting her. A forensic team has been called and an investigation is underway. The accused will be arrested soon," the official said.
