Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to elevate Uttar Pradesh’s AYUSH medical systems on a global level by integrating traditional practices with modern science. The state government has decided to develop AYUSH hospitals into “Research Centre Hubs”, shifting their role from purely treatment-based facilities to centres of scientific research.

Under this initiative, serious diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, thyroid disorders, obesity, and joint pain will be studied through Ayurveda, Yoga, and Homoeopathy. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is being finalised with a Central Research Centre to support this effort.

According to Principal Secretary for AYUSH, Ranjan Kumar, the aim is to bring AYUSH systems into the mainstream of healthcare by generating scientific evidence through data-based analysis of patient lifestyles, diets, and treatment outcomes.

The proposed research hubs will provide AYUSH practitioners with advanced lab facilities and technical training. The government’s objective is to develop a Standard Treatment Protocol based on research findings, which can be adopted nationally and internationally.

This move is expected to enhance the credibility and global acceptance of AYUSH medicine, while offering AYUSH students and researchers a strong platform for practical research and employment opportunities. The initiative is part of the state’s vision to establish Uttar Pradesh as a holistic health model, balancing traditional knowledge with modern science.
