Although delayed, fresh snowfall in Uttarakhand has breathed new life into the state’s tourism sector, with a surge of visitors flocking to hill destinations over the weekend and the Republic Day holiday. Tourist hotspots across the state remained crowded for nearly three days, generating employment for residents and bringing much-needed relief to tourism-related businesses. With snowfall resuming in several areas, stakeholders are hopeful of another spike in tourist arrivals in the coming days.

Popular winter trekking and meadow destinations such as Kedarkantha Bugyal, Dayara Bugyal, and Chaurangi Khal witnessed a significant influx of visitors. Around 8,000 tourists arrived in the district, with nearly 5,000 reaching Kedarkantha alone over four days.

Dayara Bugyal and Chaurangi Khal also emerged as major attractions. However, the closure of the Gangotri Highway and icy conditions after snowfall limited tourist numbers compared to expectations.

The world-famous ski destination of Auli is witnessing heavy tourist movement, with over 3,000 visitors arriving daily. Tourist activity has also increased in Mandal Valley, Chopta, Lohajung–Debal, Jyotirmath, Pipalkoti, Chamoli, and Gopeshwar.

Mussoorie recorded a massive tourist turnout, with more than one lakh visitors over four days. Hotels, guesthouses, and homestays remained fully occupied. Major attractions, including Atal Udyan, George Everest, Kempty Fall, Bhatta Fall, Gun Hill, Lal Tibba, Char Dukan, and nearby destinations such as Buranshkhanda, Dhanaulti, and Kanatal, remained bustling throughout the period.
