Serious allegations have surfaced against Junior Engineers (Avar Abhiyanta) posted at the Mohanpur Sub-divisional Officer’s office of the Energy Corporation, Uttarakhand, accusing them of disregarding the directives of the Electricity Regulatory Commission. The issue concerns the alleged failure to provide service cables (service lines) to consumers who have applied for new electricity connections.
According to reports, several consumers were charged both a security deposit and the cost of the service cable, but the cables were never issued. It is alleged that Junior Engineers are submitting online site reports for approval from the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and later shifting blame by claiming that cables are unavailable in the store.

Geeta Bisht, General Secretary of the Uttarakhand Pahari Mahasabha, sought details on the matter under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. In response, the Junior Engineers cited a shortage of cables in the store as the reason for the delay.
However, officials from the stores department have refuted this claim, asserting that cable supplies are sufficient and are being provided as per requirements. The conflicting statements have raised questions about the transparency and accountability of the Energy Corporation.
The Pahari Mahasabha has announced that it will submit a formal complaint to senior officials of the Energy Corporation and the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission, demanding an investigation into the matter.
